Beautifully Blue

The major influence for 'Late Afternoon Blues' was a song.

In 1997, Bob Dylan’s album, Time Out of Mind, won a Grammy for Best Album of the Year. One cut on that album is “Not Dark Yet”. If you’re not familiar with the song, it’s sad, and slow, and sexy, and so Bob Dylan! His older voice, his incredible poetic lyrics and his bittersweet melody haunted me throughout the painting of the piece. I hope you will feel about this painting the way that I do…beautifully blue.
